18 James Street

By: Dan DiNicolo

18 James Street is the home studio, gallery and dress shop of artist and fashion designer Jessica Vergeer located in Downtown Parry Sound. Inspired by the area’s rugged landscapes, Jessica’s paintings aim to capture the natural strength, beauty and movement found around Georgian Bay. Her love of painting extends to her popular studio painting classes, where students paint scenes from throughout the biosphere with an emphasis on accessible landscapes like those at Killbear Provincial Park. With her fashions, Jessica aims to strike balance between comfort and style, with a range of designs that can be dressed up or down, all made right here in Parry Sound.

In addition to Jessica’s work, 18 James Street also features a variety of jewellery, pottery and artwork by other local and Canadian artists and artisans. Our collection of hand-screened posters feature local icons and landmarks with a vintage feel, while items like our greeting cards, postcards and prints provide an easy way for those visiting the biosphere with an easy way to take a small piece of it home.

Please feel free to stop into 18 James Street for a visit the next time you find yourself in Parry Sound. Please ask about painting commissions, canvas and framed print options, and details on how to find more of Jessica’s work around town or online. Email 18 James Street or follow at 18JamesStreet and JessicaVergeerStudios on Facebook and Instagram.
