Community Gardens & Food Waste (Webinar)

Learn the basics of starting and maintaining a Community Garden to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from food miles, and support a healthy local food movement. Start-up, seasonal tasks, and ways to manage garden plots will be discussed. An introduction and update on the ‘Food Rescue Program’ will also be provided and information on how you can get involved!

About the Presenters:

Glenda Clayton is passionate about local and sustainable food production. Having grown up on a farm, producing food has always been a part of her life. Glenda is a member of the Parry Sound Local Food Collaborative and co-coordinates the Parry Sound community garden program.

Clarissa Kennedy is the Program Co-ordinator at Harvest Share Parry Sound. She has a Commerce degree in Hospitality, Honours Indigenous Social Work, Mental Health & Addictions, and is an Internationally Accredited Food Addiction Counsellor. She has partnered her passion of helping people eat less processed food with her knowledge of commerce and community to launch the Food Rescue Program here in Parry Sound. Her philosophy is Food is Medicine. This program has transformed their food programs by allowing greater access to fresh, nutritious food and a positive environmental impact by reducing food waste and greenhouse gases in our Parry Sound area.
